Which one should I use?

Use the present simple for habits, routines, and facts. Use the present continuous for actions happening now, temporary actions, and changes happening around now.

Common mistake

Do not use continuous for every verb.

Some verbs usually describe states, not actions. They often use the present simple: like, love, know, want, need, understand, believe.
