π What is Water Hyacinth?
Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is an invasive aquatic plant that has become one of the world's most problematic weeds. Originally from South America, this floating plant has spread to waterways across Africa, Asia, and North America, causing significant environmental and economic damage. Despite its beautiful purple flowers, water hyacinth can completely cover water surfaces, blocking sunlight and depleting oxygen levels.
